The Bushnell Police Department would like to welcome you to the City of Bushnell Web Site. The BPD is a full service 24 hours a day. With the assistance of the McDonough County Sheriff’s Office and the Illinois State Police‚ we can offer a full range of police services. Bushnell police officers have received and continue to receive the best training the State of Illinois had to offer. We are dedicated to providing you with the best protection and services we can while remaining compassionate.

The police department offers a “house watch” service. By contacting the police department and filling out a short form‚ we will check your house periodically to guard against burglaries to give you the security you need while you are on vacation.

The BPD is actively involved in the D.A.R.E. Program. An officer is trained and monitored to teach a 10-lesson curriculum to the 5th grade classes. The lessons help teach students to resist the pressures involving drugs and violence. We are the only department in the county that not only teaches in the 5th grades‚ but Jr. High as well. We also visit the kindergarten thru 4th grade introductory D.A.R.E. classes.

The Illinois Fire and Police Commission Act govern the police department‚ in which‚ three police commissioners are responsible for the hiring and disciplinary action of its officers.

Please feel free to contact us with any concerns or suggestions. We depend on your input as one of the main ways we can improve the department.
